Upon the submission of your application to the Bowen School of Law, you are automatically considered for the following scholarships:
Merit Scholarships
- Merit Scholarships are awarded in amounts of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of tuition. Academic achievement, LSAT/JD-Next scores, and quality of application materials are considered in selecting recipients of these scholarships. Personal statements are especially critical. Full-tuition scholarships are extremely competitive. Recipients of the full-tuition merit scholarship have exceptional academic credentials, strong LSAT/JD-Next scores, demonstrated leadership qualities, and exhibit the ability to excel in the classroom while also taking active roles as leaders within the law school community
Non-Resident Scholarships
- Non-resident Scholarships are awarded in an amount that allows out-of-state students to pay the resident tuition rate during their first year of study. This is intended to cover a student’s first year of law school only, as students will be eligible to apply for in-state tuition their second and third years. Students who are ineligible for Arkansas residency following their first year of study, are eligible to apply for this award in subsequent years.
Core Value Scholarships
- First-Generation College Student Scholarships are offered to all accepted students who self-identify as a first-generation college student who has graduated or will be graduating from a four-year college or university. This award stems from our commitment to our core value of access to justice.
- Public Service Merit Scholarships are awarded to admitted students who have worked for Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, Teach for America, or City Year for at least one year. This award stems from our commitment to our core value of public service.
All scholarships are awarded at the time of acceptance and recipients should rely upon their individual award letters for the details and criteria of their scholarships.
One of the conditions for scholarship renewal is that you must be in the top 60% of your class. If it’s a merit-based scholarship, you must be in the top 40% of your class in order for it to be renewed.
Merit scholarships cannot be combined with core value scholarships, however, non-resident scholarships may be combined with merit or core value scholarships (but not both).
