Nancy Ward has been named the new English Content Director for AR AIMS following the retirement of Missye Tyler. Having taught all levels of Pre-AP English and both AP Language and Literature, Nancy brings forty years of classroom experience to the directorâ€™s position. Beginning as a facilitator of The Arkansas Writing Project in 1986, she has presented professional development for teachers on a variety of literacy topics ranging from bridging the gap between analyzing a text and writing the essay to scaffolding a series of lessons to teach middle school students how to analyze a text. Nancy also workedÂ as the English Specialist for the Bryant School District and has been a presented atÂ state, local, and national conferences including the National Council for Teachers of English and CollegeBoard. Her goal with AIMS is to support AP teachers in any way she can.
Nancy has been married to Dennis Ward for forty-two years; they have one daughter Melissa Sanders and two grandchildren, Evan and Caroline.
