Kathy Oliverio, MA

Kathy Oliverio is the Academic Editor and Military Ombudsman. She is responsible for the Undergraduate Catalog, various academic websites, the university policy website, and in her capacity as military ombudsman, evaluates military transcripts for articulation as academic credit.

Prior to joining the Provost’s office, Kathy served for 20 years in the Air Force and retired in 2000. While serving her country, Kathy held various senior-enlisted leadership positions. During her military career, she spent 7 years as an instructor. In 1981, she was a military training instructor (drill sergeant) allowing her to combine her passion for teaching and dedication to the Air Force. In 1994, she was selected to serve as the Commandant of the Airman Leadership School at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida. In this position, she taught an accredited college-level supervisory curriculum, which included managerial communications, leadership, management, and military studies. Kathy also served as superintendent of two Services squadrons. These are the organizations that provide morale and welfare support for the thousands of Air Force members and their dependents.

After retiring from the Air Force, she worked at a small advertising specialties company as their webmaster and graphics designer. When the economy weakened in 2002, she was forced to find employment elsewhere and worked for an accounting firm providing information technology support. She joined the Provost’s office in 2007.

Kathy earned her bachelor’s degree in music and master’s degree in professional and technical writing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
