Helpful Hints 
- Get started as soon as possible - There are early deadlines for freshmen students!
- Contact each college or university you are interested in attending
- Be aware that the college may require student to have applied for admissions before processing an application for fin aid.
- Complete Federal Tax Returns early.
- Keep copies of all forms
- Be sure to respond to all requests from school as soon as possible.
Documents needed to Complete the FAFSA for the 2009-2010 year:
- Student’s Social Security Number
- Driver’s license
- 2008 W-2 forms and other records of money earned
- 2008 Federal Income Tax Return (Students AND Parents)
- Untaxed income records, e.g. social security, temporary assistance to needy families, welfare, veterans benefits, combat pay.
- student’s and parents’ current business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bond, and other investment records.
- alien registration or permanent residence card, if not a U.S. citizen
- student’s and parents’ current bank statements
