We’re here to help make the beginning of your college career go seamlessly by guiding you through the process of applying for admission, looking into financial aid, and exploring the other important aspects of college, whether you are starting for the very first time, transferring from another college, or coming for a graduate degree.

There are several types of entering students. Which one best describes you?

Freshman student

Description Requirements
Freshmen are students who are new to college, while freshman transfers are students who have fewer than 12 college credit hours accepted in transfer to UALR. Students who have no college credit or earned college credit while in high school or during the summer immediately after high school graduation are classified as first-time entering freshmen.

Unconditional Admission

Students with all of the following academic qualifications will be unconditionally admitted:

  • Successful completion of the high school college preparatory core in effect at the time of graduation from high school.
  • A cumulative high school grade-point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • An ACT composite score of 19 or a combined Critical Reading/Math SAT I score of at least 910 or comparable COMPASS score.
    Home-schooled graduates or those with a GED are unconditionally admitted if they have an ACT composite score of 19 or a combined verbal/math SAT I score of at least 910, or a comparable COMPASS score.

Conditional Admission

Applicants who do not meet requirements for unconditional admission may be considered for conditional admission. Students who present one of the following qualifications will be conditionally admitted:

  • An ACT composite score of 18 or higher, or
  • A cumulative high school GPA of at least a 2.6 on a 4.0 scale combined with an ACT composite of at least 15, or
  • An ACT composite of at least 15 combined with 5 or fewer D’s and F’s in college preparatory courses on the final high school transcript

Transfer student

Description Requirements
Transfer students are those who have been enrolled previously in a higher institution of learning after earning a high school diploma or GED and have at least 12 transferable credit hours. A 2.00 cumulative GPA on all previous college work is required to be granted regular admission. Visit the Office of Transfer Students for more information.Apply Now!

  • Official transcript(s) from each college in which previous enrolled.

International student

Description Requirements
International students applying for admission to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock must apply online and submit complete credentials and detailed information before being considered for admission. UALR is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students. All required items must be received at UALR by July 1 for the fall semester and November 1 for the spring semester.   • Proof of English proficiency
  • Financial statement (F and J visas only)
  • Visa documents
  • International Student Immunization Form signed by your doctor

Online student

Description Requirements
Online students seek to take all of their courses online through UALR Extended Programs.Apply Now!

  • Official transcript(s) from each college in which previous enrolled.

Visiting student

Description Requirements
You are a visiting student if you plan to earn credit at UALR that will be transferred back to your current institution.Apply Now!

  • Letter of good standing or official transcript from the institution in
    which you are enrolled.

Member of the military

Description Requirements
Military students should contact the Office of the Military Ombudsman for more information about military students, veterans, and eligible dependents.

Dual-enrolled high school student

Description Requirements
Current high school students who have completed some high school coursework and wish to attend classes on the UALR campus may be considered for admission. College credit earned may apply toward a degree at UALR. Students are not eligible for scholarships or financial aid.
  • Application for admission and non-refundable $40 application fee
  • Proof of two MMR immunizations
  • Official high school transcript
  • Official ACT (composite score of 21), SAT (combined Critical Reading/Math SAT I score of at least 990), or comparable COMPASS score taken within the last five years
  • Cumulative 3.0 high school GPA
  • Letter of permission from parent or legal guardian
  • Letter of permission from the instructor of the course in which you plan to register

High school concurrent student

Description Requirements
A concurrent student takes UALR courses offered at high school. UALR offers concurrent enrollment through a number of Arkansas high schools. High school concurrent students enroll in UALR courses offered on their high school campus.
    At least one of the following:

  • Complete at least 50 percent of the state-recommended college preparatory courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Achieve a minimum overall high school grade point average of 3.0
  • Achieve a minimum composite score of 21 on the ACT

Senior citizen

Description Requirements
Any Arkansas resident who is at least 60 years of age and has been admitted as a student at UALR shall receive a tuition waiver once proof of age has been provided to the Bursar’s Office on a space-available basis.

Graduate student

Description Requirements
Applicants who have completed a baccalaureate degree and are interested in continuing their education with a master’s or doctoral degree are graduate students. Visit the Graduate School for more information.

  • Official transcript from college that conferred undergraduate degree.

Law student

Description Requirements
Applicants who have completed a baccalaureate degree who are interested in applying to the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law should contact the law school’s Admissions Office.Apply Now!
  • Application through the Law School Admission Council
  • Personal statement
  • Law School Data Assembly Services Law School Report
  • Letters of recommendation are not required, but applicants are welcome to submit up to three as part of their Law School Report

Non-degree seeking student

Description Requirements
Non-degree seeking status is available on a limited basis to students who wish to enroll in courses for personal enrichment or career development and do not plan to earn a certificate or degree at UALR. Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for student financial aid or veteran’s benefitsApply Now!

Post-baccalaureate student

Description Requirements
Students who already have a bachelor’s degree and wish to take additional undergraduate courses may be admitted as post-baccalaureate students. Post-baccalaureate students are not eligible for some federal grantsApply Now!

  • Official transcript from the institution that granted the bachelor’s degree with date of degree conferral.
