Government Relations

The governmental relations functions of the campus—including local, state, and federal levels—is managed by the staff of the Advancement office. The Vice Chancellor and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement serve as the legislative liaisons for the University.

Government support is important for any university to thrive and provide a learning environment complete with a wide range of benefits related to quality of life, healthiness, employment and income, economic productivity, and civic participation.

It is essential for UALR to determine overall strategies and objectives for the University’s relations with external constituencies and identifying funding strategies for university priorities and projects from government sources.

Advancement acts as an adviser to the Chancellor and other administrators on legislative and governmental issues of importance to the campus while developing relationships and partnerships with elected officials and governmental agencies.

Research is an important component of the function of the department. By directing the use of data, we are able to set goals and objectives to garner state-wide support for university programs.
