Academic Advising administers several programs that support the educational mission of the University. Assessment is conducted regularly for quality assurance and accreditation purposes.
- First Year Experience
First Year Experience courses are academic courses designed to ease the transition of students into the college environment. With approximately 85% of the nation’s colleges and universities having implemented such courses, research has shown that enrollment in such a course significantly enhances a student’s ability to succeed in college. This course is designed to be exciting and to convey the possibilities of the learning experience at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR).
- Associate of Arts in General Studies
UALR’s mission is to “develop the intellect of students” and “to instill in students a lifelong desire to learn.” The Associate of Arts in General Studies supports this mission by providing students with these competencies through the core curriculum, while also preparing students to move on to complete a bachelor’s degree.
