1.  I am thinking about transferring to UALR. Is there a guide to see what will transfer?

The Arkansas Course Transfer System (ACTS) contains information about the transferability of courses within Arkansas public colleges and universities. Students are guaranteed the transfer of applicable credits and equitable treatment in the application of credits for admissions and degree requirements. Students may complete specified core courses (general education) anywhere in the public system as well as many courses in the degree/major that have been pre-identified for transfer. Check with an academic advisor to ensure the proper transfer of courses identified on the ADHE ACTS system in compliance with ACT 472 and UALR policy.  The UALR Transfer Credit Equivalency Guide also provides a list of courses and their direct equivalents to courses at UALR.

2.  When do I find out whether my courses will transfer to UALR?

If you are considering a transfer to UALR, but would like a preliminary review of your coursework, you can email¬†transferoffice@ualr.edu or call¬†(501) 682-1273. ¬†Once you have submitted all of your admission¬†requirements (including (1) ALL official transcripts and (2) immunization record to the UALR Office of Admissions), UALR will re-evaluate your transfer credit and “officially” post the course equivalencies for transferring course(s) in BOSS ‚Äď UALR‚Äôs online student system.

3. ¬†Do my ‚ÄėD‚Äô grades transfer to UALR?

Typically, only undergraduate courses with grades of “C” or greater from a regionally accredited institution will transfer to UALR. However, the UA Board of Trustees ruled in December 2003 that students may transfer up to six credit hours of courses with grades of “D” if a grade of “D” would be accepted for credit in the corresponding courses at UALR [Transfer of D Grades Policy].

4.  I will be transferring in with a good GPA, do I qualify for any transfer scholarships?

The Shelby Breedlove Transfer Scholarship is for students who will have completed at least 45 hours at a 2-year accredited Arkansas community college with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher (at the time of application). Applications are accepted for the fall term only and must be received by February 1.  If you haven’t already done so, also consider applying for federal aid online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  For other sources of funding, see UALR’s private scholarship listing. For state scholarships, click on the state scholarship link at the AR Department of Higher Education.

5. I am taking classes at Pulaski Technical College, do you have information on that process?

The Transfer Office has created a two page reference guide & FAQ (one for students that will be first attending in Summer 2012 and another for those attending in Fall2012) that guides you through the transfer process from PTC to UALR.

6.  I want to take classes at another school, what do I do?

Keep in mind that courses repeated at another institution are not subject to UALR’S repeat course policy and do not replace UALR quality points which are used to calculate your UALR grade point average. The Arkansas Course Transfer System (ACTS) contains information about the transferability of courses within Arkansas public colleges and universities. Students are guaranteed the transfer of applicable credits and equitable treatment in the application of credits for admissions and degree requirements. Students may complete specified courses (general education) anywhere in the public system as well as many courses in the degree/major that have been pre-identified for transfer. Check with an academic advisor to ensure the proper transfer of courses back to UALR.

7.  Who can I contact for more information?
