Community Economic Development

Community Economic Development

The Arkansas Economic Development Institute (AEDI) continues to expand its role in community economic development through strategic community assessment, facilitation, and focus group evaluation. In addition, as a neutral party with an innovative perspective, AEDI can assist in areas involving both State and Federal programs, regional councils, chambers of commerce, and public/private partnerships. Additionally, the Institute uses the Arkansas Community and Cultural Economic Strength System (ACCESS) in parallel with AEDC to help communities with the hands-on-training needed to prepare for a successful economic development prospect visit.

Functioning as Arkansas’ only Economic Development Administration (EDA) University Center, the Institute provides research and technical assistance to the state’s Planning and Economic Development Districts (PDDs/EDDs), secretarial services for the PDD/EDD association and the Association of Arkansas Development Organizations (AADO), and web support for the Arkansas Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy program (www.arkansaseconomicregions.org).

With its specific focus on supporting and enhancing EDA Development Districts, the Institute offers strategic assessment support for the states of Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas EDA Districts and administrative reporting/technical support of the Southwest Federal Region’s Revolving Loan programs. AEDI hopes that this information and perspective can be useful to a community and any strategic planning committee in its deliberations. It is hoped, therefore, that AEDI can not only provide technical expertise, research, and evaluation skills, but can add critical insight to help local leaders and elected officials make the best choices for their unique community.

After 62nd year of providing solutions to cities, states, and economic regions, we know that one size never fits all.  That is why we never come in as experts with a preconceived plan.  We arrive ready to listen and to learn.  It is then and only then that we can partner with the people who make Arkansas such an awesome place to live, work, and play.
