Campus Text Messaging Opt-in
UALR has introduced another new feature in BOSS (Banner Online Self Service) that allows faculty, staff and students to add contact information to receive a text message in the event of a campus emergency. In order to receive a text message in the event of a campus emergency, you must complete the following instructions.
Instructions to receive text messages from UALR
Access BOSS using your nine-digit T number
- Select Personal Information
- Select last entry titled “Text Messaging Opt-in”
- Enter a cell phone number including area code
- Select a cell phone provider from the pull down box
- If your cell phone provider is not listed
- Please call the Computing Services Help Desk at 501.569.8720
- Send an e-mail to webmaster@ualr.edu
- Select your desired Opt-in Level from the pull down box
- Emergencies
- To receive message for campus emergencies only
- Messages will be sent by the Department of Public Safety or the Office of Communications
- High importance
- To receive messages that are considered important such as the campus closing due to inclement weather
- Includes Emergency messages
- Messages will be sent by the Department of Public Safety or the Office of Communications
- Informational
- To receive all messages relating to campus issues
- Includes messages in emergency and high importance categories
- Messages may be sent by other offices on campus other than the Department of Public Safety or the Office of Communications
- Click the Submit button
A screen will be displayed that confirms you have completed text messaging opt-in.
This service is free from UALR, but charges from your cell phone provider for usage may apply. Contact your service provider for details.
Please take advantage of this new feature to receive a text message from UALR. You may enter updated information as needed. If your cell phone number changes in the future, please make a change in BOSS to ensure you receive a text message.
