UALR Alumni Association hosts LRU Alumni Event
On March 2nd, 100 Little Rock University alums attended a pregame rally before the Trojans defeated their rival, the Arkansas State University Red Wolves (78-71). The event was held at the BaileyAlumni Center where guests congregated for refreshments and a trip down memory lane. After the rally, the Alums were then shuttled over to the Jack Stephens Center to cheer on the fighting Trojans to victory.
Little Rock Junior College became Little Rock University in 1957 until Governor Winthrop Rockefeller signed a bill creating what is now the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. A slideshow was presented at the pre-game rally, which was comprised of several recognizable faces and places from LRU past. Pictures of the campus included the construction of the LRU Student Union.
This is the third LRU alumni event hosted by the UALR Alumni Association. “The events have been enthusiastically received and well attended all three years,” said Anne Mourning, Director of Development for Major and Planned Gifts. The UALR Alumni Association is pleased to connect LRU alums and looks forward to a tradition of annual events.
