Bob Major was born on Feb. 15, 1947 in Little Rock, but he got to North Little Rock as soon as he could when his parents “Mouse” and Jean Major brought him home from the hospital. He attended Park Hill and Lakewood elementary schools and Ridgeroad Junior High. He is a member of the North Little Rock High School Class of 1965. While in school he had been a member of both the North Little Rock and Little Rock Boys Clubs. Bob received a BSBA degree from UALR.
In November 2000, after 30 years with AT&T/Southwestern Bell Bob retired as Arkansas Area Sales Manager. After seven years of retirement he went back to work. First he joined the staff of the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce as Special Events Director. Since November 2011, Bob has worked for the North Little Rock Advertising & Promotions Commission where he is currently serving as Executive Director of the North Little Rock Visitors Bureau.
Major has been active in the community serving on a number of boards and committees including the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce’s 1989 Chairman of the Board and Central Arkansas Transit Authority Board Chairman. He was also chairman of the North Little Rock School District committee to select the mascot, school colors and name of the high school when NLRHS and NLR Northeast High School merged. And for 35 years he operated the scoreboard clock at NLRHS Stadium for all high school football games.
