Elizabeth Caldwell has been named director of news and communications in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Office of Communications & Marketing.
She will direct UAMS external communications, overseeing news coverage, facilitating publicity about UAMS and working with the media. She will also assist with strategic planning and executive communications, which includes producing the UAMS Journal, the twice-yearly chancellor’s publication, and will work with the offices of institutional advancement and governmental relations. Caldwell joined UAMS in 2004 as managing editor of the UAMS News Bureau, which produces news releases, magazines and other writing about UAMS services, medical innovations and research.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Before joining UAMS she worked in public relations for the Stone Ward agency and Acxiom Corp, both in Little Rock. Before that she spent 15 years as a reporter for the Arkansas Democrat, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Stephens Media Group’s Arkansas News Bureau.
