Great Grads: Chris Thomas ’01
Successfully meeting challenges while in the Executive MBA track and in a career path that resulted from completing the graduate degree in 2001, Chris Thomas attributes his success in property management to opportunities that arose from his studies at UALR.
His first challenge was presented by the dean to make a 4.0. Thomas accomplished that feat of a perfect GPA and went on to utilize skills and connections developed from the program to direct his career plan. “The MBA program allowed me to make contacts that I would never have made before,” Thomas said. He chose to partner with a cohort in the MBA program and was a key asset to growing a small property management business from a 48-unit apartment complex to over 21,000 units in three states.
That background led to his current position as senior operations manager at Moses Tucker Real Estate in Little Rock, where he oversees both commercial and residential property management and general operations. Thomas emphasized the role the University played in his career. “I would not have been in that position had I not enrolled in UALR’s Executive MBA program.”
Joining the Alumni Association in 2003 was “an opportunity to try and give back. It was great to get back on a college campus,” Thomas said, adding that he has made a lot of good contacts through his involvement in the association. “It has really been beneficial. I appreciate what they do.”
Thomas’ undergraduate degree is from Henderson State University. He lives in Benton with his wife, Megan, and their two children. The real estate executive is a member of the current Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce Leadership Greater Little Rock Class XXII; president of the Institute of Real Estate Management, Arkansas Chapter; and has served on the Downtown Partnership’s Business Improvement District Committee.
