Meet our 2011-2012 Scholarship Recipients


Alumni Student Scholarships listed below will be available next year for 2014-2015.

PLEASE READ THE REQUIREMENTS/ELIGIBILITY BELOW BEFORE COMPLETING THE ONLINE APPLICATION. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Applications for review will begin February 2014. 

 The Alumni Forever Scholarship (rising seniors only)

The Alumni Forever Scholarship will be awarded to eight recipients in the amount of $2,500 to be used for tuition only.

The Trojan Collegiate License Plate Scholarship (rising seniors only)

The Trojan Collegiate License Plate Scholarship will be awarded to five recipients in the amount of $2,500 to be used for tuition only.

 Eligibility 

  • Rising seniors, on track to graduate in one or two semesters.
  • A least a GPA of 2.75 for all hours earned at UALR.
  • Must have earned their last 30 hours at UALR.
  • Financial need will be strongly considered.
  • Have no or minimal scholarship aid.
The following are application requirements for The Alumni Forever Scholarships and The Trojan Collegiate Scholarships:

1.  An essay explaining how you plan to use your UALR degree, maximum 1000 words in the text box provided on the scholarship application.
2.  A  statement explaining your financial need in the text box provided on the scholarship application.
3.  A recommendation letter from a UALR professor or staff member.  Mail to Alumni Association, Attn. Scholarship Committee, 2801 S. University Avenue, Little Rock, AR  72204.
4.  A recommendation letter from a person familiar with your character (no family members please).  Mail to Alumni Association, Attn. Scholarship Committee, 2801 S. University Avenue,

5.  A list of specific courses needed to complete your degree in the text box provided on the application.


Alumni Association Book Awards

The Alumni Association Book Awards will be awarded to eight recipients in the amount of $500.

Eligibility
  • Non-recipients of the Alumni Forever (6 awards) and the Trojan Collegiate (2 awards).
  • Will be awarded in order of scores.

The Bailey Family Leadership Scholarship

The Bailey Family Leadership Scholarship is a $2,500 award covering any educational related expenses.

Eligibility
  • Sophomores, juniors, or seniors who have demonstrated leadership on campus and in the community.
  • Academic accomplishment will be strongly considered.
  • Financial need will be strongly considered.
Following are requirements for The Bailey Family Scholarship:

1.  An essay that addresses how you have demonstrated your leadership skills on campus and in the community, maximum 1000 words in the text box provided on the scholarship application.
2.  A  statement explaining your financial need in the text box provided on the scholarship application.

The E. Grainger and Frances B. Williams Endowed Scholarship

The E. Grainger and Frances B. Williams Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to one recipient in the amount of $750.

Eligibility
  • A full or part-time student in the College of Business.
  • Preference will be given to “middle of the road” sophomore and junior level students with a 2.25 -2.5 GPA or higher.
  • Financial need will be strongly considered over academic accomplishment.
Following are Requirements for The E. Grainger and Frances B. Williams Endowed Scholarship:

1.  An essay explaining how you plan to use your UALR degree, maximum 1000 words in the text box provided on the scholarship application.
2.  A  statement explaining your financial need in the text box provided on the scholarship application.

 The Alfred L. Williams Endowed Alumni Scholarship

The Alfred L. Williams  Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to one recipient in the amount of $750.

Eligibility
  • The recipient shall be a full- or part-time student.
  • Preference will be given to junior and senior level students.
  • Academic accomplishment and financial need will be strongly considered.
Following are the requirements for the Alfred L. Williams Endowed Alumni Scholarship.

1.  An essay explaining how you plan to use your UALR degree, maximum 1000 words in the text box provided on the scholarship application.
2.  A  statement explaining your financial need in the text box provided on the scholarship application.

The Elaine Eubank Endowed Scholarship

The Elaine Eubank  Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to one recipient in the amount of $750.

Eligibility
  • The recipient shall be a full- or part-time student majoring in business.
  • Preference will be given to junior and senior level students.
  • Preference will be given to students with financial need, as well as the student’s desire to work in the non-profit industry.
  • Recipient shall write a letter of appreciation to the Donors, which shall serve as their official notice of acceptance.
Following are the requirements for the Elaine Eubank Endowed Alumni Scholarship.

1.  An essay explaining how you plan to use your UALR degree, maximum 1000 words in the text box provided on the scholarship application.
2.  A  statement explaining your financial need in the text box provided on the scholarship application.

The John A. Larson Scholarship Fund

The John A. Larson Scholarship will be awarded to one recipient in the amount of $750.

Eligibility
  • The recipient may be a full- or part-time student.
  • Academic Accomplishment and financial need will be forms of consideration in the selection process.
Following are the requirements for the John A. Larson Scholarship.

1.  An essay explaining how you plan to use your UALR degree, maximum 1000 words in the text box provided on the scholarship application.

General Instructions

  1. Please submit one  application and indicate each scholarship you are applying for by checking the appropriate box on the application: (a)  The Alumni Forever; (b) Trojan Collegiate Scholarships; (c)  The Bailey Family Leadership Scholarship; (d)  The E. Grainger and Frances B. Williams Endowed Scholarship; (e) The Alfred L. Williams Endowed Alumni Scholarship; (f) The John A. Larson Scholarship.
  2. Your supporting items must be typed.
  3. Gather your recommendation letters early.  Give your professors and character references sufficient time to write about your character, integrity, persistence, and self-discipline.
  4. Submit your recommendation letters in a sealed envelope.  Mail to Alumni Association, Attn. Scholarship Committee, 2801 S. University Avenue, Little Rock, AR  72204.
  5. Proof read your application and essays.
  6. MUST BE RECEIVED BY MARCH 1, 2013.

FAQs

  1. When will my application be reviewed?  A panel of alumni will review applications during the 2013 Spring Semester.
  2. Will I be asked to particpate in an interview?  Yes, you will receive a phone call to schedule an interview with a panel of alumni.
  3. How will I be notified of my application status?  
Letters will be mailed to recipients and those not chosen by June 15, 2013.
  4. When will scholarships be awarded?
  Funding is applied to a recipient’s account on the eleventh day of class for Fall and Spring semesters.
  5. Are Alumni Association Scholarships available to undergraduates only?  
Yes.  Although, the UALR Alumni Association welcomes donations to help establish   scholarships for UALR Grad Students.  Please call Christian O’Neal (501) 569-3142 for more information.
