2011 Issues that Impact the University
1. The Need for State funding for UALR Nano-Technology Center
The Issue: Secure permanent funding for the UALR Nano-Technology Center. The UALR Alumni Advocates for Higher Education supports as its top priority Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board recommendations including $2.3 million for the UALR Nano-Technology Center.
What to Advocate: It is crucial to preserve the competitiveness of the states research universities (ASU, UA-F, UAMS, and UALR). Together, these campuses educate more than 40,000 students annually. The benefits to the citizens of Arkansas of having a premier Nano-Science Center at UALR are substantial through economic growth, job creation and increased productivity.
