Scholarships

Alumni Student Scholarships

Alumni Merit Scholarship 

Two Alumni Merit Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 ($2,500 per semester) will be awarded annually. The funds may be used for any education related expense. These scholarships are renewable but recipients must reapply annually. Renewal applications will be approved automatically subject to the recipient’s continued eligibility and contingent upon the availability of funds.

  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher.
  • Strong preference will be given to undergraduate students
  • The student’s accomplishments and financial need are considered.
  • Graduate students are eligible to receive the Alumni Merit Scholarship.

Student Book Awards

The Alumni Association Book Awards in the amount of $500 will be awarded annually to the highest-scoring students that did not receive an Alumni Merit Scholarship.

Owen W. Parker, Sr. and Merrily Parker Endowed Scholarship

Two Owen W. Parker, Sr. and Merrily Parker Endowed Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 ($2,500 per semester) will be awarded annually. The funds may be used for any education related expense. These scholarships are renewable but recipients must reapply annually. Renewal applications will be approved automatically subject to the recipient’s continued eligibility and contingent upon the availability of funds.

  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher.
  • Academic accomplishment and financial need will be considered.
  • Strong preference will be given to music or philosophy majors.

The E. Grainger and Frances B. Williams Endowed Scholarship

The E. Grainger and Frances B. Williams Endowed Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to one UALR student. Funds may be used to cover any education related expenses.

  • Applicants must be College of Business students.
  • Preference will be given to junior and senior level students with a 2.25 – 2.5 GPA.
  • Financial need will be considered over academic accomplishment.
  • Recipient may re-apply and compete for the scholarship each spring.

The Alfred L. Williams Endowed Alumni Scholarship

Alfred WilliamsThe Alfred L. Williams Endowed Scholarship in the amount of $1,500 will be awarded to one UALR student. Funds may be used to cover any education related expenses.

  • Preference will be given to sophomore, junior, and senior level students with a 2.25 – 2.5 GPA.
  • Financial need will be considered over academic accomplishment.
  • Recipient may re-apply and compete for the scholarship each spring.

 The Elaine Eubank Endowed Scholarship

Elaine Eubank UALR scholarship

The Elaine Eubank Endowed Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to one UALR student. Funds may be used to cover any education related expenses.

  • Applicants must be a junior or senior majoring in business.
  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher.
  • Preference will be given to students with financial need, as well as the student’s desire to work in the non-profit industry.
  • Recipient may re-apply and compete for the scholarship each spring.

The John A. Larson Scholarship Fund

The John A. Larson Scholarship in the amount of $750 will be awarded to one UALR student. Funds may be used for tuition, books, and fees.

  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
  • Academic accomplishment and financial need will be considered.
  • Recipient may re-apply and compete for the scholarship each spring.

The Bailey Family Leadership Scholarship

The Bailey Family Leadership Scholarship is a $2,500 award covering any educational related expenses.

  • Academic accomplishment will be strongly considered.
  • Applicants must be sophomore, junior, or senior level students who have demonstrated leadership on campus and in the community.
  • Recipient may re-apply and compete for the scholarship each spring.
  • The Bailey Family Scholarship requires applicants to submit an essay that addresses the applicant’s demonstrated leadership skills on campus and in the community. This essay is in lieu of the “How I plan to use My UALR Degree” essay that is required for all other Alumni Association Scholarships. Type a maximum of 1000 words in the text area provided on the scholarship application. Note: Essay score represents half of total application score.

Alumni Association Scholarship requirements:

Students must complete the Alumni Association Scholarship Application. Each application must include:

1. An essay explaining how you plan to use your UALR degree, maximum 1000 words, in the text area provided on the scholarship application. The Bailey Family Leadership Scholarship has a different essay requirement – see Bailey Scholarship above. NOTE: Essay scores represent half of the total application score.

2. A statement explaining your financial need in the text area provided on the scholarship application.

3. A typed recommendation letter from a UALR professor or staff member. Mail or deliver to: UALR Alumni Association, Bailey Alumni and Friends Center, 2801 S. University Avenue, Attn: Scholarship Committee, Little Rock, AR 72204. Letter must be received by scholarship deadline.

4. A typed recommendation letter from a person familiar with your character (no family members). Mail or deliverto: UALR Alumni Association, Bailey Alumni and Friends Center, 2801 S. Gather your recommendation letters early. Give your professors and character references sufficient time to write about your character, integrity, persistence, and self-discipline. Submit your recommendation letters in a sealed envelope. Recommendation letters must be typed.

Submit only one application. Indicate the scholarship(s) you are applying for by checking the appropriate boxes on the application: (a) Alumni Merit Scholarship; (b) Owen W. Parker, Sr., and Merrily Parker Endowed Scholarship; (c) The Bailey Family Leadership Scholarship; (d) The E. Grainger and Frances B. Williams Endowed Scholarship; (e) The Alfred L. Williams Endowed Alumni Scholarship; (f) The John A. Larson Scholarship; (g) The Elaine Eubank Scholarship

Application and recommendation letters must be received by scholarship deadline.

FAQs

When will my application be reviewed? A panel of alumni will review applications during the Spring semester.

Will I be asked to participate in an interview? If your application is chosen, you will receive a phone call to schedule an interview with a panel of alumni.

How will I be notified of my application status? Letters will be mailed to recipients and those not chosen by June 15.

When will scholarships be awarded? Funding is applied to a recipient’s account on the eleventh day of class for Fall and Spring semesters, and varies if funds are being applied for summer school.

Are Alumni Association Scholarships available to undergraduates only? Graduate students may apply for the Alumni Merit Scholarship.
