David L. Briscoe, Ph.D, is a professor of sociology. He earned a BA in Sociology and an MA in Criminal Justice from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and he earned a Ph.D in Sociology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He is an alumnus of the Executive Program at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and the Summer Leadership Institute at Harvard Divinity School.

He teaches Introduction to Sociology, Family Violence, Family Sociology, Experiences of Black Americans, and Social Problems. He is a Certified Family Life Educator of the National Council on Family Relations and a Fellow of both the Association of Gerontology in Higher Education and the Arkansas Gerontology Society. He is published in the areas of race and ethnicity, gerontology, and public policy.
