Sociology and Anthropology

Secondary Teacher Certification Program

UALR anthropology and sociology majors may simultaneously pursue teaching licensure that allows them to teach social studies in Arkansas for grades 7-12.

To meet state teaching standards, students must complete a minor in Social Studies and a minor in Secondary Education.  Through this coursework, students will study history, economics, political science, and other social sciences. In addition to their studies in teacher education, students will engage in practical teaching activities, including placements in three local schools.
