Fostering Positive Communication to Prevent Self-Inflicted Crises

Dr. Andrew Pyle is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at Clemson University.  His research focuses on understanding, preparing for, and preventing organizational crises. Some of his most recent work examines the concept of self-inflicted organizational crises. These are events that organizations could have prepared for and/or prevented with some additional preparation, and with the cultivation of positive communication as part of the organization’s culture. In his talk, Pyle will present both successes and failures in self-inflicted crisis management, along with practices that organizations could employ to foster positive communication. He earned his Ph.D. from George Mason University and Masters from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
