Illustration at UALR emphasizes the development of technical skills, concept development and personal expression for the professional illustrator. Students are trained in traditional media and in newer technologies such as computer illustration. Assignments stress “real world” situations, and projects include illustration for book, advertising and editorial uses. A close tie with the graphic design curriculum creates a well-rounded commercial artist ready for employment in a variety of commercial art fields or a freelance career.
Students in the illustration program have access to state-of-the-art equipment including Apple iMacs loaded with the most current versions of the Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and various web and multimedia applications, as well as materials for the preparation of printed work for presentation.
