Keith Wallace Smith is assistant professor at Kennesaw State University in metropolitan Atlanta. He is a figurative sculptor working primarily in ceramics and cast metal with a long-standing commitment to making and teaching art. The work on display in Taking Possession is entitled Gunpoint. It is a powerful large scale installation addressing conflict and gun violence. Gunpoint was created in 1999 and the materials used to make the work are bisque stains, terra-cotta, wood, plaster-lath, and brick.
