Illustration at UALR emphasizes the development of technical skills, concept development and personal expression for the professional illustrator. Students are trained in both traditional media such as painting and drawing and in newer technologies such as computer illustration. Assignments stress “real world” situations, and projects include illustration for books, advertising and, magazines. A close tie with the graphic design curriculum creates a well rounded commercial artist ready for employment in a variety of commercial art fields or a freelance career.
