Painting
Coordinator: Eric Mantle

Students begin the painting program by working in a realistic manner emphasizing linear perspective, simulation of volume, composition, color theory, atmospheric perspective, and various techniques. Once the academic elements of the program have been completed, with the guidance of the instructor students are encouraged to choose their own painting direction, which could encompass anything from traditional portraiture to contemporary concepts. The painting studio has 400 square feet of natural light, 250 square feet of which is north light. Work by UALR students is regularly accepted in local and regional competitive exhibitions.
