ARST 3370 • Introduction to Photography

An introduction to the basic technical skills for black and white digital photography. The course also emphasizes the visual organization of an effective photograph. Prerequisite for all other photography courses. No previous experience is necessary, but students must provide their own single-lens-reflex digital camera. (3 credit hours)
ARST 4315-202 • APD: Mixed Media Photography
MWTR 1:00 - 3:15 • Carey Roberson
Exploration of this course will be on learning several historic photographic processes, creating digital negatives, and how to combine content and process. Processes will include: Cyanotype, Van Dyke, and Anthotype. (3 credit hours)
Prerequisites: ARST 3370 & ARST 3371, or permission of the instructor.
ARST 4373-201 • Advanced Projects in Photography
MWTR 1:00 - 3:15 • Carey Roberson
The further exploration of concepts introduced in other photography courses. Individual assignments based on each student’s previous experience and interest. (3 credit hours)
Course will run in conjunction of other courses being offered.
Prerequisites: ARST 3370, ARST 3371, & Permission of instructor!

ARST 3371-01 • Intermediate Photography

Exploration of current modes of photographic expression with an emphasis on content. Students continue to develop both their black and white technical skills and their ability to visually organize a photograph. Prerequisite to all advanced photography offerings. (3 credit hours)
Prerequisite: ARST 3370
ARST 4371-01 • Alternative Photo Methods
TR 6:00 - 8:40 • Brady Forrester
Exploration of alternative photography & Photoshop techniques. This semester will emphasize the exploration of alternative Photoshop techniques, including: extreme manipulations of black and white, combining color with black and white in a single image, combining separate images in a collage-like form and combining to create a continuous illusion. (3 credit hours)
Prerequisites: ARST 3370 & ARST 3371.
