Faculty Nominated Scholarships for Juniors & Seniors
The Department of Art offers several competitive scholarship opportunities for junior and senior art history, studio art, applied design, and art education majors. Students are nominated by the art faculty and reviewed by the Scholarship and Awards Committee. A group of students are selected from those nominated. Studio Art finalists are required to present their portfolios in a PowerPoint presentation and Art History finalists will present their papers in a lecture hall on a scheduled date mid spring semester. During the exhibition, students are required to give an artist talk about their work. From the competitive presentations and artist talks, the faculty will award the scholarship winners and their alternates. Endowed scholarship funds vary annually.
General Criteria Required
- A declared undergraduate major in the art department.
- Must have completed a minimum of 60 hours with at least 24 hours in the major field at the time the award commences.
- Have a minimum of a 3.00 GPA within the major.
- Demonstrated outstanding academic/artistic achievement.

Scholarship Finalists are required to present their portfolios in a Power Point presentation and Art History finalists will present their papers in a lecture hall on a scheduled date mid spring semester. Presentations must include 8-10 images be 5-8 minutes long.
Scholarship recipients are required to participate in a scholarship exhibition during the following fall semester the year their scholarship is awarded, along with all other art scholarship recipients, to be held in one of the Department of Art galleries. Please be prepared to submit one or two recent exemplary artworks and coordinate with gallery director Brad Cushman.

Joan R. Taylor Scholarships
A competitive scholarship awarded to full-time art majors based upon artistic accomplishment, financial need, and academic success.
Lori Grimes Memorial Scholarship
A competitive scholarship awarded to full or part-time art majors in their junior or senior year. No student shall receive the award more than once. Financial need is not a consideration.
Friends of the Arts Scholarship
A competitive scholarship provided by the organization, Friends of the Arts, for a declared art major.
Jerry Arrowood Memorial Scholarship
A competitive scholarship available to an Art History major in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
