Bachelor of Arts in Interpretation: ASL/English

Undergraduate Research

Undergraduate Research is an optional independent study for students who have displayed exemplary writing skills in previous coursework and who aspire to conduct research in the areas of second language acquisition, interpretation learning, and American Sign Language. The course introduces students to conceptualizing research projects and narrowing ideas into reasonable research plans. Before students may collect data, they are required to undergo online, human subject training in preparation for submitting proposals to the UALR Institutional Review Board. Students are mentored through problem identification, research design, literature review, instrument construction, data collection and analysis, manuscript preparation using APA style, publication and presentations in professional venues.
