English Major with Creative Writing Emphasis

ENGL 2336 (Introduction to Creative Writing) is a prerequisite for the other Creative Writing courses (but does not count toward the English-Creative Writing Major)

  • ENGL 3332 Major British Writers II (3 hours)
  • ENGL 4199 Career Perspectives (1 hour)
  • Either
    • ENGL 3311 History of the English Language or
    • ENGL 3312 Grammatical Analysis (3 hours)
  • Either
    • ENGL 3321 American Literature I or
    • ENGL 3322 American Literature II or
    • ENGL 3323 American Literature III (3 hours)
  • Either 
    • ENGL 3318 Fiction Writing I or
    • ENGL 3319 Poetry Writing I (3 hours)
  • Either
    • ENGL 4369 The Form and Theory of Poetry or
    • ENGL 3346 The Form and Theory of Fiction (3 hours)
  • Either 
    • ENGL 4398 Fiction Writing II or
    • ENGL 4399 Poetry Writing II (3 hours)
  • One additional 3000-4000 level Creative Writing course (3 hours)
  • One additional 3000-4000 level course in twentieth-century literature (3 hours)
  • Two additional hours of English classes at the 3000-4000 level (2 hours)
