International Studies Honor Society - Sigma Iota Rho
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock chapter of Sigma Iota Rho recognizes the scholarly achievement of undergraduate students of International Studies. The Greek letter Sigma stands for “Synesi,” meaning Prudence; the Greek letter Iota stands for “Ideaodoi,” or ideals and the Greek letter Rho stands for “Romi,” which means power. These are the building blocks for the organization.
Mission:
“The purpose of this organization shall be to promote and reward scholarship and service among students and practitioners of international studies, international affairs, and global studies to foster integrity and creative performance in the conduct of world affairs. ‘Think globally, act locally.’”
SIR Eligibility:
Eligibility depends on the following:
1. Declaration of an International Studies MAJOR or MINOR or a Middle Eastern Studies MINOR.
2. Attainment of at least a Junior level standing with 6 upper level hours completed.
3. Cumulative GPA of 3.3 within International Studies coursework and 3.2 overall.
4. Approval/Invitation from the UALR Chapter.
