Major Requirements
BALA Online Degree Program
The Liberal Arts degree program is an interdisciplinary approach to university studies. The major/minor program allows the student to combine aspects of several academic disciplines both within and outside of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS).
The program requires 60 hours in addition to the UALR core curriculum and foreign language requirements. The major must include 18 hours of study in three concentrations (54 hours total), as well as LIST 3310 Reasoning Across the Disciplines and LIST 4310 Liberal Arts Colloquium. Two of the three concentrations must be within the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

- General Psychology
- History
- Legal Studies
- Philosophy and Religious Studies
- Political Science
- Sociology
- Professional and Technical Writing
Other concentrations currently available online from other colleges within the university are:
- Management
- Criminal Justice
- Health Sciences
- Speech Communication
- Mathematics
Additional online concentrations are being developed and new courses are being added each semester.
