Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts: Online

Advising

UALR requires students to be advised before every registration period. You will notice an advising flag appear on your account. To have this flag released, you will need to follow the steps below:

Procedure for returning BAIS students:

1.  Review the class schedules located on the UALR homepage.

2.  Go to the Advising Request Form (you may be asked to log in using your log in information that you use for your UALR email) and complete all fields and click submit.    If you are new to UALR you will not have an email log in so please follow the directions for advising that are below.

3.  Your request will be answered in order of received. Once answered, the advisor will review your choices and then clear your advising flag. You will be cleared for registration at that time (as long as no other holds are on your account).  The advisor will email you when your request has been processed.

4. Review dates of registration. Official registration periods will start by priority. Priority means by classification based on completed hours. Remember hours are figured going into the current term (do not count the hours you are currently in):

a) Freshman is a student with 0-29 hours

b) Sophomore is a student with 30-59 hours

c) Junior is a student with 60-89 hours

d) Senior is a student with 90 or more hours

5.  Register for BAIS classes before BAIS reserved seat roll back (roll back is when unused reserved seats in the BAIS program will be given back into the on campus sections of the online classes). Roll back is 2 weeks before the first day of classes for each term.

Procedure for new BALA students:

1. You will need to be an officially declared Liberal Arts Online (BAIS) student. If you have not officially declared BALA are your degree, you can find instructions here.

2. Review the class schedule located on the UALR homepage.

3. Send your advisor a list of what classes you would like to take. An email of dates for advising will be sent out each semester. If you have missed the advising email, advising per term starts usually a month before registration opens.

4. Your advising email will be answered in order of received. Once answered, the advisor will review your choices and then clear your advising flag. You will be cleared for registration at that time (as long as no other holds are on your account).
