FAQs
What is Beta Alpha Psi?
Beta Alpha Psi is the national accounting honorary and professional
fraternity.
Why should I join Beta Alpha Psi?
First, businesses recruiting accounting majors look for Beta Alpha Psi
members. Fewer than 300 colleges nationally have chapters of Beta Alpha Psi.
(More than 1000 colleges have programs in accounting). Membership serves not
only as a measure of achievement, but also as an expression of interest in the
accounting profession. Second, you can learn things about the field of
accounting which we do not discuss in the classroom. In our meetings, we have
programs presented by professionals working in a wide range of areas which
provide our students with information about the "real world."
Who can join Beta Alpha Psi?
You must meet three criteria:
- You must have completed Intermediate I- Accounting 3311.
- You must have at least a 3.0 average in
upper level accounting courses.
- You must have a 3.0 average overall, or a
3.25 average in your last 60 hours.
I don't meet the requirements- can I participate in Beta Alpha Psi?
All UALR students are encouraged to attend and participate in our
activities. Some students who didn't meet pledge criteria have found good jobs directly as a result of participating.
How do I apply for membership?
- Send your name. address, phone number and your student ID number in an
E-Mail message to:
-
MMWATTS@ualr.edu
- Or, if you wish, call Dr. Watts at 569-8890. Leave a message if necessary.
