Department of Biology

Facilities

The Biology Department occupies 40,000 square feet on two floors of Fribourgh Hall, and in 1998, moved into another 20,000 square feet in the Science Laboratories Building. The increase in space was mostly individual research labs, but also includes electron microscope facilities, a tissue culture lab, an image processing lab and many pieces of state-of-the-art collection and analysis equipment. The Department also oversees and operates an animal services unit, an 1185 ft2 greenhouse, three environmental growth chambers, walk-in cold rooms and two refrigerated centrifuges. Other department facilities include a computer lab, mail delivery, photocopy and fax services.
