Organizational Structure
The Director of the School of Social Work is appointed by the Dean of the College of Professional Studies on the recommendation of the faculty and is responsible for administrative functions and for the implementation of policies by the university and by the department faculty. The Director is administratively responsible to the Dean of the College of Professional Studies.
The director oversees three programs within the School – the Master of Social Work Program (MSW), the Bachelor of Social Work program (BSW), and the MidSouth Training Academy . The BSW program is administered by the Program Coordinator, who is administratively responsible to the Director of the School. The Field Coordinator is administratively responsible to the Program Coordinator. Both positions serve as full-time faculty. The program has one additional full time faculty member. Faculty from the Graduate School and adjunct faculty from the community serve as support staff and faculty to fulfill teaching and field liaison roles. The curriculum committee, consisting of the Program Coordinator, the Field Coordinator, one other faculty member, and a student representative make policies affecting course design and accreditation decisions. The Field Coordinator calls together a field committee of faculty from both programs to assist in determining appropriate placement sites and the placement process. Practitioners from the community serve on this committee in an advisory capacity.
