Admissions info
The application process for the UALR BSW Program for the Fall 2012 Semester is now closed. We will begin accepting applications for the Fall 2013 semester on Monday, January 7, 2013. Please click on the below links for the application:

- References: you must have 3 references and one of these must be from your Introduction to Social Work instructor.
- Reference forms (this form must be given to 2 references who are not family members or friends.)
- Introduction to Social Work instructor reference form (this form must be completed by your Introduction to Social Work instructor.)
Application deadlines are as follows:
Early decision applicants: Applications due no later than Friday, February 15, 2013. Applicants will be notified of admission decisions by Friday, April 05, 2013. The University will be closed for Spring Break on Friday, March 29, 2013.
If you meet the below criteria by the end of the Fall 2012 semester, you can apply for Early Decision:
1. Have completed at least 53 credits, at least 40 of which must be in the UALR Core Curriculum.
2. Have completed the three prerequisite courses:
- SOWK 1300: Introduction to Social Work
- PSYC 2300: Psychology and the Human Experience
- SOCI 2300: Introduction to Sociology
3. Have at least a 3.25 overall GPA and a 3.25 GPA in the three prerequisite courses.
Early decision applicants will be notified of admission decisions by Friday, April 05, 2013. Decisions will be one of the following:
- Admit to the program, or
- Consider application with regular decision applicants.
Regular decision applicants:
Applications due no later than Wednesday, March 29, 2013.
If you meet the below criteria, you can apply for Regular Decision:
1. Have completed a minimum of 53 credits, at least 40 of which must be in the UALR Core Curriculum, by the end of the Summer 2013 semester.
2. Have completed at least one of the three prerequisite courses (listed below) by the end of the Spring 2013 semester and all three prerequisite courses by the end of the Summer 2013 semester:
- SOWK 1300: Introduction to Social Work
- PSYC 2300: Psychology and the Human Experience
- SOCI 2300: Introduction to Sociology
3. Have at least a 2.5 overall GPA and a 2.5 GPA in all three prerequisite courses. Student transcripts will be reviewed again at the end of the Spring 2013 semester to ensure that the required GPA is met. Applicants will be notified of the decision on admittance to the program by Friday, June 21, 2013. The decision will consist of one of the following responses:
- Admit to the program
- Admit to the program with provisions. These provisions may include requiring you to take additional coursework as a condition of your admission to the BSW Program.
- Deny admission to the program.
When submitting your application, all applicants must submit to following:
- The typed and signed application, including the biographical statement.
- Three references in sealed envelopes with the evaluator’s signature across the back seal. One of the references must be from your Introduction to Social Work instructor. Note that there is a separate reference form for the Introduction to Social Work instructor.
- Original copies of transcripts in original sealed envelopes from all universities and colleges you have attended since high school.
- A copy of your DD214 if you have prior military service.
The above information should be submitted in a single packet that includes all application materials and sent to:
