Arkansas Saxophone Quartet to perform Oct. 22

UALR’s Music Department is hosting the Arkansas Saxophone Quartet for a guest artist recital Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Building.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The Arkansas Saxophone Quartet’s members are Andy Wen on soprano saxophone, Caroline Taylor on alto saxophone, Brent Bristow on tenor saxophone, and Jackie Lamar on baritone saxophone.  They are the saxophone professors at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Ouachita Baptist University, Arkansas State University-Beebe, and the University of Central Arkansas, respectively.

Selections from the program include “Fugue in Gminor, BWV 578,” by J.S. Bach, “Recitation Book” by David Maslanka, and “Quatuor” by Pierre Max Dubois.

The quartet was formed in the fall of 2007 and performs all styles of chamber music ranging from transcriptions to avant-garde contemporary music.
