UALR Music Department presents a recital by guest artist Sarkis Baltaian at 3 p.m. Feb. 27 in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Building.

Dr. Baltaian has gained an international reputation as a concert pianist, chamber musician, recording artist, and pedagogue. Baltaian made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1999 and has performed extensively as both a recitalist and concerto soloist with major orchestras throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
The recital program includes Vallee d’Oberman by Liszt, the famous “Moonlight” sonata by Beethoven, and Klavierstucke Op. 119 by Brahms, as well as a contemporary work by Bulgarian composer Pancho Vladigerov, and the Symphonic Etudes of Schumann .
Baltaian has been a top prize winner of various national and international competitions and has appeared as a guest artist in numerous festivals including the Aspen International Music Festival , Holland Music Sessions, Bad Bertrich Klaviersommer, Pan Pacific Music Festival, Mammoth Lakes Music Festival, and Plovdiv International Chamber Music Festival.
Baltaian began to study piano at the age of four with Rositza Ivancheva at the “Dobrin Petkov” Music High School for gifted students in his native Bulgaria. He continued his education at the University of Southern California
He is currently an assistant professor of music at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
