One of the most exciting facets of our college is our student organizations. We have a number of groups that meet to share their interests in subjects ranging from ceramics to voice, politics to philosophy, and writing to art. Below is an inventory of our student organizations, more organizations across the university can be found at the Office of Campus Life.
Anthropology Club- The Anthropology Club is open to all UALR students and is composed of individuals with a variety of backgrounds. Human diversity is a strong focus within the field of anthropology and this is reflected in the organization.
Art Student Association-Â Through various group projects and activities, the ASA hopes to enrich the life of the art student by allowing them to work closely with other student artists as well as with artists in the surrounding community.
Clay Guild- The Clay Guild is a group of students who love ceramics; some are majors in the subject while others do it for fun. Our goal is to educate everyone about the ceramic world, educate each other and ourselves as a community, and have fun while doing it.
Â Community Chorus- We welcome adult singers at all levels of musical experience and ability from the UALR and greater Little Rock communities. We encourage new members to join us at the beginning of each semester, when we generally begin preparing new music for our fall and spring concerts.
Equinox- Equinox is a student-run journal of contemporary literature and art at UALR. Our aim is to discover and nurture the unique voices of our diverse student body through compiling an annual selection of visual art, poetry, fiction, and drama representing the Arkansas art community.
Gender Studies Student Association-Â In this interdisciplinary program we are interested in how gender and sexuality are built into and represented in social structures and cultures.
Iota Mu Chapter, Pi Sigma Alpha-Â Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, is the only honor society for college students of political science and government in the United States.Â Pi Sigma Alpha is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) and is designated as a â€śSpecialized, Upper-Divisionâ€ť society by ACHS.
Islam and Sufism-Â Islam and Sufism, established in summer 2009,Â is a student organization at UALR (University of Arkansas at Little Rock) in Arkansas . It aims to promote a better understanding of Islam through the study of Sufism.
NonnprofitÂ Leadership Alliance-Â We are the UALR Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA)Â formerly known as the American Humanics. Students enrolling in the program receive a nationally recognized certificate fromÂ NLA upon completion of a bachelor’s degree, and students may also choose to declare NLA as a minor.
Phi Alpha Theta-Â Phi Alpha Theta is a national honor society for History students. We are a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians.
Phi Sigma Tau-Â Phi Sigma Tau is the national honor society for philosophy. The Philosophy and Liberal Studies department is a member of this organization, allowing philosophy majors to apply to graduate with honors.
Secular Student Alliance-Â The mission of the Secular Student Alliance is to organize, unite, educate, and serve students and student communities that promote the ideals of scientific and critical inquiry, democracy, secularism, and human based ethics.
Sigma Iota Rho-The purpose of this organizationÂ is to promote and reward scholarship and service among students of international and global studies andÂ international affairs, andÂ to foster integrity and creative performance in the conduct of world affairs.
Sigma Tau Delta- Members share their love of literature with their peers and participate in a wide range of social and service activities. Each spring, members of Sigma Tau Delta have the opportunity to give papers at the international meeting.
Socratic Society-Â The Socratic Society is a student organization dedicated to the study and promotion of philosophy. The group is open to anyone, regardless of major, who enjoys thinking about lifeâ€™s fundamental questionsÂ e.g.,Â if human actions are free or determined, if God exists, and if there are moral truths.
Writers’ Network/ Quills & Pixels-Â Quills & Pixels is the peer-reviewed, student publication of the UALR Writersâ€™ Network. Writers of nonfiction in all its forms are encouraged to submit, to have their work double-blind, peer reviewed and, depending on the outcome of the review, to have their work published.
