Entry 39
Angela and I went to a few of the lectures at the conference hall and then off to the sculpture park to deliver some tools and donations for the tool room. It was a very empty place and a ghost town of artists and their work. From there we went to the Sister City International Sculpture Park to photograph “Visionary” in a little different light. We met three Chinese photographers and mugged for a few photos with them in front of the sculpture.
Then it was on to the Bank of China to get some cash exchanged so I could buy a new carry-on-bag for my books and tools. After that Angela and I went to a Chinese Restaurant to have dumplings. Good stuff. Then we dropped off the new baggage and went to Moon Lake for the afternoon. It was very relaxing walking in the woods and sitting on the edge of the damn for three hours.
At seven there was a huge banquet on the third floor for all the sculptors at the symposium and the conference. It was good fun had by all. There must have been 500 people at the dinning hall. Of course my dining table was the loudest of all because of my loud laughter and the Samoan Patrick. Every once in a while Patrick would let out a Samoan war cry that was loader than anything I’ve ever heard by a human. It did not help with my weird songs of sayings that the interpreters would tell us every day. “The bus is coming, the bus is coming, be careful, be careful, boom shockalocka, boom shockalocka.” After diner I met with Angela’s parents for a short visit. It was very enjoyable telling them great stories about their daughter and how much she made a difference in the production of my sculpture.
