Community Organizations
The Friends of the Arts was formed in 1988 as a volunteer organization to support “fine arts programs of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, to assist with the promotion of Artspree, and to develop programs recognizing outstanding student achievement in the arts.”
Since its inception, the membership of the Friends of the Arts has comprised a broad range of people who have a passion for the arts and who want to play a role in supporting budding artists from UALR. The board of FOA works closely with the Dean of the College and with the Chairs of the Departments to build bridges to the greater community of the metropolitan area and to act as an advocate for the arts on campus.
Sponsorship money and donations support, through annual scholarships, three outstanding students from each of the departments of art, music, and theatre/dance and contribute to the Endowment Fund to build a stronger scholarship program. The members of FOA also support the Artspree series and provide hospitality for visiting artists and performers.
