AHSS Learning Technology Center

The college is committed to bridging the gap between the knowledge our classes give students and the skills they need to apply the knowledge. To do this, we developed the AHSS Learning Technology Center (LTC). The LTC is an expanding collection of technology classrooms and tools offered by the college:

  • The SUA106 Classroom Suite - Located in the heart of the UALR campus, the SUA106 suite includes classrooms devoted to writing, graphics, and audio. In each of these classrooms, students can learn collaboratively and integrate skills and knowledge across the curriculum. An impressive array of hardware and software, essential to the student’s success in the professional world, enables exploration of innovative ideas and techniques utilized in creating text, graphic, and music for technical writing, artistic expression, theatre set and lighting design, musical performance and composition, and advertising.
  • The SUA102 Core Classroom Suite - In order to integrate computer skills throughout the curriculum in a meaningful way, the college designates specially-developed sections of the core curriculum as technology-enhanced. These classes meet in one of the SUA102 classrooms, which are designed specifically for the varied teaching and learning styles found in core classes. In each classroom, every student has a computer, and the instructors have a wide selection of multimedia tools at their disposal. These tools include a computer, laptop connections, a document camera, a DVD/VCR player, a high resolution projector, and a sound system.
  • Multimedia Projection Classrooms - Two of our classrooms in Ross Hall offer instructors multimedia projection centers. Through these centers, instructors can project media from the dedicated computer, the document camera, or the DVD/VCR player. Each room also includes a high resolution projector and an integrated sound system.
  • Multimedia Carts - In order to meet the growing demands for classroom technology, we offer mobile presentation carts in several buildings on campus. The carts provide instructors with a computer, a document camera, a VCR, and a projector-all on a compact cart that can be wheeled from classroom to classroom.

We have developed special training and request procedures for each of the LTC offerings. To find out more information about the offerings, the training, or the procedures, just contact Chad Garrett (cxgarrett@ualr.edu or 501-569-3134).
