Scholarships in the College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences

The following scholarships are available to students with declared majors within the College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences (CALS). Scholarships may have different requirements, please read carefully.

These are not the only scholarships available within CALS. Individual departments also administer their own. Visit your department web site to see what they have to offer.

Please fill out the application below and submit the supplemental documents with the application by February 1.

Stephen L. Mourning Science Scholarship

Awarded to a full-time or part-time student seeking a major degree in any field of science in the College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences and earth sciences. Preference is given to junior and senior level students. Academic accomplishment and financial need will be strongly considered.

Majors eligible: BiologyChemistry, Earth SciencesPhysics and Astronomy

Science and Mathematics Leadership Endowed Scholarship

Awarded to a full-time or part-time student in the departments of science and mathematics in the College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences and earth sciences. Academic accomplishment and financial need will be strongly considered.

Majors eligible: Biology, Chemistry, Earth SciencesMathematics and StatisticsPhysics and Astronomy

Martha Sawrie Stephenson Endowed Scholarship

Awarded to a full-time or part-time (no fewer than 6 hours) student. Cumulative GPA must be between 2.5 and 3.5. Financial need strongly considered.

Majors eligible: English, HistoryPolitical Science

Tracy L. Thompson Endowed Scholarship

Awarded to full- or part-time student majoring in science or mathematics and minoring in education with the intention of becoming a teacher OR a graduate student in science or mathematics who is a teacher or intends to become one.

Items to submit for the Tracy L. Thompson Endowed Scholarship: Application and applicant must demonstrate current record of active volunteerism in community, church, or other non-profit organization that benefits U.S. youth & minors. Submit 3 letters of recommendation with app: 1) member of org where applicant is current volunteer; 2) member of the community; 3) fellow student.
