In support of the Learning Environment
UALR envisions a learning environment in which each student has the opportunity to study in state-of-the-art facilities and to learn in beautiful surroundings. Such an environment will be key to attracting excellent students and graduating students who are ready for the contemporary workplace.
In recent years, UALR has been the beneficiary of some exceptional facilities thanks to the generosity of specific individuals and foundations. The H. Tyndall Dickinson Hall, the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Business and Economic Development, the Dr. Ted and Virginia Bailey Alumni and Friends Center, and the Jack Stephens Center are all major, first-class additions to the UALR campus and a quality educational and co-curricular environment for UALR students. In addition, UALR’s forested setting offers great natural resources and a beautiful physical environment.
There are, however, new significant facilities necessary to fulfill the University’s mission and vision. Indeed, according to recent Arkansas Department of Higher Education calculations which consider the level and mix of degree programs offered, UALR needs an additional 322,158 square feet to accommodate its current academic offerings.
While new facilities are clearly needed, others are in need of substantial renovation. Ensuring that all UALR students enjoy the competitive edge afforded by a superb learning environment will necessitate that facilities—either new or renovated—become reality. And, while endowed with natural attributes, the grounds of the institution are in need of significant landscaping and design in order to take advantage fully of the natural resources at hand.
