Major: Social Work
Class Year: Graduate Student
Hometown: North Dakota

Thank you greatly for choosing me as the recipient of the Marian Williams Scholarship. Your financial support as I continue my education is much appreciated. The funds allotted to me through the Marian Williams Scholarship will enable me to concentrate more fully on my education, confident that education costs are accounted for.

I am 23 years old and originally from North Dakota. I moved to Arkansas in 2003, graduating from Harding Academy in Searcy, Arkansas a year later. I chose to attend the University of Arkansas at Little Rock because of the many career and education opportunities UALR presented.

In 2007, I received a bachelor's degree in sociology and received the Distinguished Graduating Student in Sociology Award. Currently, I am a student in the master's in Social Work program at UALR and have a 4.0 grade point average. I am completing a summer internship at the BridgeWay Hospital as a case manager, working with young children with behavior and mental problems. I will begin a second internship in the fall, working at the UAMS Young Adult clinic, serving mainly clients with eating disorders.

I will receive a master's degree in Social Work in the spring of 2009. In the near future, I plan to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and treat women with chronic anorexia and/or bulimia in an inpatient setting. Eventually, I intend to found a residential treatment center for eating disorders using empirically proven therapeutic methods.

I have maintained a constant full-time job throughout my college years, but thanks to your generous contribution, I will be able to reduce my hours at work and focus on my education. Know that your support is being used not only to help me through school, but will make a significant difference in the lives of many women I intend to work with. I cannot thank you enough.

Sincerely,

Beth Genrich
