I am the recipient of the John and Patricia Bailey Scholarship for 2008-2009 at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I really appreciate your support and kindness. This scholarship will substantially lessen the financial burden on my family and will also allow me to devote a greater amount of time to my studies.

I was born and raised in Little Rock but recently separated from the Air Force after a six-year enlistment. My time in the military enabled me to see the reality that so many people around the world never have a chance to become educated. Because of this, I am grateful and do not take for granted my own opportunity for education.

I just completed my freshman year at UALR. So far, my undergraduate work has gone well and I've been able to maintain a 4.0 grade point average and make the Chancellor's List twice. At this point, my plans are to complete a major in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I then plan to apply to medical school at UAMS. Eventually, I'd like to do humanitarian work in the U.S. and abroad to help those who need it most. Thank you again for the generosity that will help me reach my goals.
