On behalf of the Interfraternal Council (IFC) I would like to welcome you to the University of Arkansas Little Rock (UALR). You have chosen an exciting time to join a fraternity at UALR; for the first time in over 50 years there is an IFC expansion happening. We are growing from two fraternities ΠΚΑ (Pi Kappa Alpha), and ΚΣ (Kappa Sigma) to three, adding ΔΧ (Delta Chi) this fall.
You will have a great time at UALR, with lots of things to do. By joining a fraternity it will be an even better time. You will gain experience outside of the classroom and lessons that cannot be learned anywhere else; lessons that can only be taught in the chapter rooms or by your brothers. You will learn to become a leader and how to achieve success in your everyday life and career.
You will have brothers that will be there for you when you need them, and will hold you accountable when they need to. Your friends will come and go throughout your life but brotherhood is truly forever. Your brotherhood will be part of your life from the moment you let them in, and through many of life’s obstacles and challenges.
As you begin one of the greatest journeys of your college career let me give you some advice. When considering a fraternity, look at the members not the letters, the members make the letters not the other way around.
All three fraternities have qualities that might fit you better than the other. While I am partial to my fraternity, it may not be the best fit for you, likewise the fraternity of your best friend or roommate my not be the one for you. I challenge you to look beyond the red cup and see what the fraternities have to offer you not just who has the best parties. Also think about what you have to offer the fraternity, as well as what you can get out of it. Get to know the guys who are going through rush with you, these are going to be your closest friends for the next four years and will continue to be once you are out of school. Your brothers are the ones who will always stick by your side.
The Council Officers are here to help you through this process and if you need any advice or guidance please do not hesitate to contact any of them or me.
The Council Officers are:
•   Adrian Hubbard (Vice President of member development, ΠΚΑ)
•   Will Fortentberry (Vice President of Administration, ΚΣ)
•   Sterg Couto (Vice President of Recruitment, ΠΚΑ),
•   Zachary Matlock (Vice president of brotherhood, ΚΣ)
•   Jenny Hunt (IFC and Greek life advisor)
Without these council officers Greek life on campus would not be what it is today. They strive daily to continue the tradition of Greek life at UALR and what a great tradition we have!
I look forward to meeting you all at “Meet the Greeks,” and other recruitment events hosted by the IFC this fall, but I really look forward to getting to share bid day with you as I announce to the Greek community and to the students of UALR what fraternity you have chosen.
Best Wishes and Good Luck,
IFC President 2014
