Freshman Convocation

The new entering class of 2013 will be officially welcomed to UALR during Freshman Convocation held by the Division of Educational, Student Services, and Student Life on Friday, August 16, at 10:00 a.m. in the University Theatre.

The ceremony will mark the beginning of your academic journey, providing you with the opportunity to assemble as a class and – with the drama and regalia of the academic processional and recessional – foreshadow your graduation celebration.

“Freshman Convocation is the university’s opportunity to welcome new students and share our enthusiasm and expectations of them in their new role as college freshmen,” said Dr. Jan L. Austin, assistant vice chancellor for Student Life and Leadership Development.

Dr. Laura Smoller, professor of history, will present the keynote charge to the entering students.

Chancellor Joel E. Anderson will offer the university’s official welcome. Students and faculty are invited to brunch immediately following the convocation in the Donaghey Student Center Diamond Café where students can sit and visit with faculty from their college of interest.
