Student Services Center Renamed

The Student Services Center has officially opened as the Charles W. Donaldson Student Services Center at UALR.  A crowd of more than 300 attended the ceremony and unveiling of the new signage honoring Dr. Charles W. Donaldson, Emeritus Vice Chancellor for Educational Student Services and Student Life.

Dr. Donaldson joked that the news of naming the facility after him sparked quite interesting discussions among his friends and family.  He remarked one friend said he didn’t realize Dr. Donaldson was so important.  “I told him he was misinformed,” Donaldson quipped.

Donaldson thanked everyone for the recognition, but noted recognition was not his motivating purpose, but rather to make a difference in the lives of the people he encountered. “From day to day, each of us should ask ourselves, what is our legacy? For what will I be known when I am no longer here?”

Chancellor Joel E. Anderson hosted the event and noted the impact of Dr. Donaldson’s service to the university over his 40 year career.  “In the 40 years that Dr. Donaldson was employed here, we had a special person in our midst,” Anderson said. “Dr. Donaldson was and is the consummate student affairs professional.”
