Airline President is UALR Business Alumna of the Year

UALR College of Business Dean Anthony F. Chelte announced the college’s 2011 Alumni of the Year recipients last week. Cynthia Treadwell-McConnell will be recognized as the Distinguished Alumna of the Year, and Frank D. Scott Jr. has been selected to receive the Deans Award for Excellence at the college’s awards ceremony Oct. 14.

President of Air Transport Services Group Inc., Treadwell-McConnell is the first female president of a major airline company. Cynthia McConnell Prior to her new role this year, for 10 years she was vice president and chief financial officer of Air Transport International, a subsidiary of the Air Transport Services Group, a leading provider of air cargo transportation and services to domestic and foreign air carriers and other companies.

Treadwell-McConnell is an experienced financial professional who was previously managing director of finance at Continental Airlines for four years and served in multiple audit roles for Ernst & Young and PepsiCo. She graduated with honors while receiving a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1988 and then an executive MBA in 2002 from UALR.

Director of Intergovernmental affairs and Deputy director of policy for Gov. Mike Beebe’s administration, Scott organizes implementation of the governor’s legislative agenda, makes public policy recommendations, and serves as liaison to congressional delegations, federal agencies, White House, National Governors Association, Southern Governors Association, and Delta Regional Authority. Frank ScottIn 2009, he was appointed to serve as the state’s interim health information technology coordinator for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Scott received an MBA with a concentration in strategic management from UALR following a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a sales management concentration from the Fogelman College of Business at the University of Memphis. Scott is a member of the UALR Alumni Association Board of Directors, UALR Management Business Advisory Council, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas board, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
