Startup events to be hosted by the Small Business Center at Little Rock Technology Park, beginning March 14

ASBTDC logoThe Little Rock Technology Park will host three free upcoming Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center events for prospective entrepreneurs.

The center, based at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, is excited about partnering with the Tech Park to offer events downtown, said State Director Laura Fine.

“These seminars will address key issues for startup entrepreneurs,” Fine said. “The Tech Park is a great place for those planning entrepreneurial ventures to gather and learn.”

The first of the seminars is “Creating a Lean Canvas” on March 14. Lean Canvas is a tool to help prospective and new entrepreneurs define, structure and develop their technology, service or business idea. The session will guide participants through completing each section of the canvas.

On March 28, “Let’s Make It Legal” will help participants choose the best legal structure for their ventures. Students from the Business Innovations Center at the William H. Bowen School of Law will lead the workshop, which will also include an overview of how the 2017 tax changes will affect small businesses.

“Business Finance Options” on April 11 is for anyone who needs funding to start a business or expand an existing one. Learn about the business financing process and different sources of capital, including Small Business Administration-backed loans, traditional bank loans, microloans and alternative funding sources.

Each session is from 1-3 p.m. at the Tech Park, at 417 Main St. Pre-registration is requested. Register online or call the center at (501) 683-7700.

The Tech Park is a joint venture of the City of Little Rock, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and UA Little Rock.
